Sarah Kaufman of the Pitt News learned much about recreating the Middle Ages recently when she paid a visit to members of the Pitt Medieval Interest Group and the Society for Creative Anachronism as they gathered for a fighter practice on a November afternoon in Pittsburgh.

Yule, the feast of light! Once again we will celebrate the return of the sun. This year's feast will include games, dancing, and A&S classes. Don't have a mask for the 12th Night Masquerade Ball yet? Many enjoyable activities have been planned for this daylong event to cover most tastes including heavy weapons, youth combat & rapier tournaments. The Barony of Wealdsmere would like to welcome you to our annual Oktoberfest/Toys for Tots Tourney. We will have good food, good fighting, and good dancing! This year, Wealdsmere’s Oktoberfest/Toys for Tots Tourney will be held at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in Davenport, Washington.
The site will open at 9:00 AM. Fighting offered will be heavy combat

Egypt opened its doors to foreign dancers and asked its hometown heroes to stay out of the competition at the Alf Leila We Leila Festival (Belly Dancing World Cup 2006). Since an Egyptian has won nearly every year of the competition, the local contestants decided to see what the rest of the world had to offer.
