Come join us for feasting, fun and frolics at Canterbury Faire, hosted by the Barony of Southron Gaard. No mud, no dust, no venymous fauna!

The right noble lord Baron and the trusty lady Baroness of the Ancient lands of Knights Crossing have declared that their subjects, noble in their demeanour, should learn the ancient art of dance, that they may better grace their court with knowledge of this gentler art. To this effect, they have hired sundry dance masters from lands far and wide to come and provide instruction.

Welcome, one and all to our Annual Celebration of Midwinter Solstice and Yule!! Join us for a day of warmth and merrymaking as we fend off the terrible cold outside.

Don't let that holiday feeling end with the New Year!  Rising Waters Twelfth Night is Saturday, January 5, 2013. The site is St. Andrew's Anglican Church Hall, 7 St. Andrew's Avenue in Grimsby.

There will be a bardic competition during the feast, and the Staff of Dragonsspine's Bard will be passed on to the next Baronial Bard. There will also be a competition for the best winter-themed table, and there will be dancing after feast and court.

It is said that the Carnival of Venice was originated from a victory of the "Repubblica della Serenissima", Venice's previous name, against the Patriarch of Aquileia, Ulrico in the year 1162.  In the honor of this victory, the people started to dance and make reunions in San Marco Square.  Apparently this festival started on that period and become official in the Renaissance.
