It is said that "all roads lead to Rome" but sometimes there are more interesting stops along the way, such as the wonderful Tuscan city of Florence; the home of Dante, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Galileo, and the Medici family.
The Marche of Gwyntarian is on the road again:

A friendly reminder that Mistig Waetru will hold its 5th annual Revel by the Lake in the village of Baraga, in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula, September 22-24. Come fight, fence, dance, sing, or just relax under the pines and enjoy the glorious fall foliage!
An additional marshal or two would be greatly appreciated, so that our wonderful local marshals can participate in combat activities. Please email me privately if you're interested in helping out.

To the atrophying affects of time some may wonder what we mean by Triumphe. The Grand Universities at Oxford have recorded for us the following meanings that we are applying. As the day ends, we ask that you join us for the Triumphe of our Champions and our own and hear the honor and glory of those who have championed us in the past as a new Order comes about. In honor of our current Guardian, who will be the last of the Old Order, Mushir Mahdi, many of the festivities, including the feast will have a Moorish flair to them. Location:
Province of Mooneschadowe (Cleveland, Oklahoma)

Our event is a celebration of the way of the Romani life. Your goal at this event is to gain as much luck as you can by following the Romani way. Upon your arrival at the event, you will be given a token bag with beads. These beads symbolize good luck, but like all the Romani you must guard your luck carefully. A small group of Romani will be wandering the site. If you commit an act of bad luck, you will be asked to turn over one bead. If you are spotted doing something that will gain you luck, you may be given a bead. So pay attention! Location:

Those loathsome Northmen are at it AGAIN. Here we are minding our business, raising our cattle and they come back in the middle of the night and steal our female cattle. I have to say the Bulls are really upset now. No milk, no cheese, no butter and no feminine companionship for our male bovines (if you know what I mean.) Poor MaddieThe evil Northmen have sent us this picture to warn us, poor Maddie. So get up, get up I say oh sons and/or daughters of Eire. We have to protect our land and the honor of our girl cows from the evil, nasty, cruel, unhygienic, bad guys with hairy backs. Fighting for the honor of a good heifer, what could be better in life!?! (Ok, don't even go there) So gird whatever the heck you want to gird but be quick about it, don your Celtic garb, and join with the Canton of Nimenefeld and our bulls in a day of snorting and fighting and help us get back our cowgirls. Canton of Nimenefeld (Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina)

I'm looking for period documentation and pictoral evidence for decorative face painting. All I've found so far are adverts for people who do face painting and vague comments about "face painting is period" or "face painting is ancient". We have a few things on the Celts & woad, but, not much. Any information is much appreciated. Thanks!

Many of our founding folk have wandered away, but many more have come to take their places. Now Sentinels’ Keep invites her many friends from near and far to help us celebrate 20 years of our existence, on October 21. (This year we’re half as old as the Society!) Location:

The Outlands premier period combat collegium is returning for AS XLI. This year, by popular demand, we will be bringing back Puck and Mary Curtis to teach Spanish Rapier. On the armored side we are bringing in Roger Siggs who will do a workshop on Intermediate Fiore. If you've attended a few basic Fiore classes and feel you've learned as much as you can from them, you NEED to be here.
Both fighting workshops will be all day long affaires (6 hrs of instruction) so you should come away overstuffed with new knowledge with which to improve your fighting prowess.
