You've heard of the tip of the iceberg? Well, this is the Tip of the Tente!

La Grande Tente will be holding a summer event the weekend of July 10, 2004. Please join us! There will be:

• Fighting--at least two tourneys! (showers on site)
  
• Archery--on three ranges!
  
• Arts and Sciences--two competitions (tent in any medium and anything made with a "tip", like the tip of a pen, the tip of a chisel, the tip of a needle…..)

There will be NO feast this year, but there are grills available for your use and a firepit for post-revel.

We will be holding this event at Black Hawk Park, on Lone Tree Road, in Cedar Falls, IA.

Site opens 4 pm Friday and closes noon Sunday. Troll opens 4 pm Friday. The park closes at 10 pm and opens at 6 am each day. If you are arriving after 10 pm let the autocrat know!

Directions: Take your best route to Highway 218, North of Cedar Falls. Exit at the Lone Tree Road exit, and turn west (right if coming from the North, left if coming from the South) onto Lone Tree Road. Slow down for the tracks and proceed to the stop sign, somewhere around 3 miles. Go forward, and keep going forward. The road will veer to the right, but the entrance of the park is forward and slightly left. We are to the right, once you enter the park--just keep following the signs!

Fees: site is $5 (with an additional $3 for non-members), $3 for children 13 to 18, and ages 12 and under are free Make checks payable to: SCA, Inc., Shire of La Grande Tente Camping fees are to be paid to the park, and are $11.00 per tent.

Dagorhir is a combat simulation group whose tournaments are based partly in history and partly in fantasy. Padded "boffer" weapons are used so that combatants can safely wear only minimal body armor.
