Illinois SCAdian honored for excellence in teaching

"Honor and respect" demonstrated at museum medieval fair

The Canton Museum of Art in Canton, Ohio recently held an exhibition entitled Illuminating the World: The Saint John's Bible, centered around a display of the Saint John's Bible, a medieval bible made with modern techniques. In conjunction with the exhibit, the museum hosted a medieval festival featuring members of the Marche of Alderford, the local chapter of the SCA. (photo)

DunDraCon, one of the longest running gaming conventions, is bringing back the SCA demo track this year as Estrella has been moved to the end of February. DDC is an excellent opportunity to bring out your Sunday best, shake off the rust before the tourney season starts up, and to share our wonderful hobby to hundreds of interested people from all over the world.

Hayes Company Armory

Hayes Company Armory are a provider of high quality SCA style armor. They specialize in Brigandine armor, sometimes called a coat of plates. The armor is made from heavy canvas and 1/8 inch (3 mm) ABS plastic. Each piece is made from 3 layers of heavy canvas which is stitched in a vertical pattern to increase the strength of the fabric.

Piece of Bosworth Battle Flag Sold

A piece of Henry Tudor's flag, flown at the Battle of Bosworth, 1485, has been sold to a private collector. The piece of flag was taken from the tomb of Henry's standard bearer, Sir Robert Harcourt, where the tattered remains had been hung. (photos)

Tournament of the Phoenix returns to Poway, California

"The Tournament of the Phoenix is not a renaissance festival, theatrical stunt show or a medieval theatre show but a real multi-day, multi-event sports contest - the original 'extreme' sport!" reads the advertising for the event, which will take place October 18-20 at the Poway (California) Rodeo Grounds.
