Look out! It's the Gauls! They are taking over Fool's Revel. Yes, it's all things Gaulish at the Revel this year. Time for a bit of Roman bashing and feasting on wild boar. There'll be the magic potion / super power Tourney for the fighters; a Worst Bard contest during feast; and in the spirit of looking for new Heralds, your Baronial Herald is sponsoring a Contest! Isabel de la Haye will bring a "ceremony" that will read by contestants COLD. Points will be awarded for Best Pronouncement (what you say) – Best Inflection (how you say it) – Best Projection (how well you make it heard) – and how enjoyable you make your spiel! Other contests include: Asterix & Obelix Jeopardy! (Brush up on your Gaulish facts and trivia!) And the A&S competition: best small box (under 12") in any mode. Location:

This event includes heavy fighting, spear throwing and rapier. This being a prize tourney, there will of course be a number of prizes for each event. Prize details to be announced at a later date. All are welcome to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Barony of Darkwood. We will be celebration at our annual Whiteshield tournament and Feast. This should a day of glory and splendor. The tournament will start with a Bar Room Brawl, so bring your most creative weapons. The tournament will be a standard double elimination. The List will open at 9:30, Armor Inspection should start at 10:00am with Invocation starting at 10:30 with the melee following. There will be 3 shields up for grabs, 1 as the tournament prize and two for auction. Location:

You are invited to attend the Chateau de Camville's first (hopefully of many) Armored Combative Arts Retreat! This weekend long event will be held at Chateau de Camville, under the soaring pines and beautiful landscapes in the Shire of Mountains Gate (El Dorado County)! The concept of our first Armored Combative Arts Retreat is to give the participants a chance to really immerse themselves in the study of Armored Combat as practiced by the SCA and other WMA groups. We will be working from the ground up, focusing on Balance, Footwork, Timing, Aspects of Attack and Aspects of Defense. The event begins on Friday afternoon and concludes Sunday afternoon. The format for the event will be composed of classes (in and out of armor), drills, and sparring. There will also be a mock tournament (or Pas d' Arms) on Sunday for those who wish to participate. It is time once again for the Crosston Dance Ball. If you enjoy period dance to music by live musicians, here is your chance to dance the night away. In the afternoon, there will be dance instruction led by our fabulous dance instructors, Vyncent atte Wodegate, Isabel D Triana, and Geoffrey Matthias. Winter has come to Winter's Gate and it is time to celebrate Yule, with the fun merriment and good company. There will be the traditional Winter's Gate gift exchange. The feast is potluck so bring a yummy dish to warm our bellies. Celebrate Yule with a day of games, entertainment, and food. We will provide the meat for the feast and the rest will be potluck-style. Using your mundane last name: A-G, salads or soups; H-N, side dish; O-Z, desserts. There is no main theme, so just share your favorite Medieval delight. There will be competitions of Best Decorated Table, Best Toast, and a candy guessing game for children and adults. There will also be a Silent Auction. The Blue Bowl cooking competition will be any dish containing a winter vegetable.
