If you're new to the SCA or have interested friends, this is the event for you! We will have a selection of classes covering many areas of interest found in the SCA. The classes will introduce new and old members to some of the various activities in the society.

Bystanders came face to face with the Middle Ages recently at Machado Elementary School in Lake Elsinore, California. Justin and Ashley Katz of San Jose decided to give the activities a try. "I've never used a bow before, but it's just something I've always wanted to do," Justin said. "It seems fun and the people are extremely nice. I think I'll be back." An armour workshop planned for 13 February at the Valley Fortress of Fathir and Etain.  Workshop begins at 1:00 PM and all projects are welcome.

This is a day to just hang out and schmooze with an informal Collegium with classes in Viking turned shoes, the scribal arts, heraldic display, stitchery, etc. Feel free to bring along any project you are currently working on.

On Saturday, February 27, 2010 Southern Shores will be hosting a Heraldic Gathering at His Grace, Duke Cariadoc's home to assist as many as we possibly can to create submissions to the College of Heralds for their Devices and SCA names.

Tragedy struck the Fresno office of the California Department of Fish and Game January 5, 2010 when a helicopter carrying three of the office's four wildlife specialists clipped a power line and crashed, killing the three men and their pilot. Among the three was SCA member Tom Stolberg, known in the Current Middle Ages as Thomas of St. Brendans.

Come join us as we share in the warmth of friendship, the joy of laughter and the delight of good food. Games, songs, and dancing will be encouraged! There will be an autocrat's whim contest for the best table decorations, an A&S contest for black and white in any mode, and a Heart's whim contest for the person who is best able to stay in persona. Dust off your creativity and imagination and give these contests a try!
