The Savannah Morning News listed the "Medieval Festival and Beastly Feast," held by the SCA and Friends of Oatland, as one of the five festivals which "stood out in 2004," and they are "already looking forward to seeing each again in '05."

On October 23, the SCA Board of Directors approved a petition by the Principality of Gleann Abhann, currently part of Meridies, to advance to Kingdom status, becoming the SCA's nineteenth Kingdom.

The Kingdom of Meridies includes Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, most of Arkansas, Tennessee, almost all of Georgia, a bit of the panhandle of Florida, and small portions of both Kentucky and Virginia.
