Sir Edward Grey of Lochleven victorious in East Kingdom Crown

Baroness Aurelia Rufinia of the Barony of Carolingia reports that Sir Edward Grey of Lochleven was the winner of the October 31, 2009 Crown Tournament in the Kingdom of the East. Sir Edward fought for the honor of Lady Marguerite Ingen Lochlainn.

Blade Society offers combat training at the University of Southern Maine

Sullivan Gym is a place for students of the University of Southern Maine to lift weights, play basketball, or sometimes practice medieval warfare through a program offered by the Blade Society, a student-run organization affiliated with the local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism. Two elevated to Pelican at Riverwar

Cateline la broderesse shares photos from Riverwar, which took place recently in the Kingdom of the East. The event saw the elevation of Mistress Jehannine de Flandres Janine and Master Ryan Mac Faoitigh (Ryan McWhyte) to the Order of the Pelican.

[EAS] Fall Harvest/Baronial Rattan Championship

Signore Capitano Cosmano invites all who read these words to the Barony of L'Ile du Dragon Dormant's annual Fall Harvest/ Baronial Rattan Championship. The event will be a three-part affair, beginning at 10am on the day of the 24th of October, 2009. Saturday mid-morning to mid-afternoon, the Baronial Rattan Championship Tourney will take place. It will be run by the outgoing champion, Brien McShane.

So it's the middle of the winter and you've been cooped up drinking mead by the fire, telling the same war stories since August. We have the solution… make some new ones! Northern Outpost is proud to host its 13th annual Winter War! Knock the rust off your armour, dust off your bow, polish up your rapier, and come join us! Last year we had fighters from Ealdormere and Aethelmearc, so you may get to test your prowess against, and fight beside, people you normally wouldn't.

[EAS] An Italian Schola in the Grand Tradition

Greetings from the Shire of Montevale! We've uncovered a “piccola parte” (small piece) of Italy in our own backyard. Come join our fair shire at this idyllic site for a day of learning and friendship in the Italian tradition. A variety of Italian themed classes and others will be offered for your educational pleasure. Anyone willing to teach or merchant is welcome, as well as those who wish to learn and shop. There will dancing, entertainment, a gaming area, Bocce (lawn bowling), and a surprise or two. A children's area set aside,(no structured activities are scheduled).

The incipient Shire of Bois Ardent will be holding its anniversary event on September 5th. Shire Le Dragonet will be joining us to celebrate their anniversary. For the occasion, Bois Ardent will be blessed, for the first time, by the Royal Presence.

Warriors of History Tournament returns to Pennsic War

Baron Diomedes Sebastianus reports that the 4th Annual Pennsic Warriors of History Tournament, sponsored by the Kingdom of the East, will take place on the Wednesday of Pennsic XXXVIII's War Week on the main battlefield. This is a new location.

[EAS] Metalsmiths Symposium VIII

The shire of Glenn Linn is proud to host this industrious and class-filled event at a beautifully wooded 400 acre campsite that is located within the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. The many fire circles and open pavilions with stone hearths are great for all of the classes that further spread the knowledge, interest and diversity of the metal arts.

Eastern Elevations to the Order of the Pelican

Brigantia, Principal Herald, reports that at the Crown Tourney of Andreas IV and Gabriella II, held on May 9, 2009, A.S. XLIV, in the Barony of Carillion, Their Majesties invited Baron Duncan Mac na Ceardadh and Duchess Christence Heiseler to accept the accolade of the Order of the Pelican.

Armoured combat covered on French TV

Sir Angus O'Niall, Founder of the Academy of Knightly Arts, reports that French National television recently covered a documentary in which he participated involving "a bunch of steel fighters" who fought tournaments in castles in southern France.

Konrad and Brenwen Heirs to the Tyger Throne

Baron Rowen Cloteworthy, Brigantia Principal Herald, reports that Graf Konrad Von Ulm, inspired by Countess Brenwen the Faire, was victorious in the Eastern Crown Lists held May 9, 2009. Graf Konrad defeated Duke Lucan von Drachenklaue, who was fighting for Duchess Jana Von Drachenklaue, in a well fought contest of sword and shield.

East Kingdom welcomes the Incipient Shire de Bermudez

Ellen Hughes, Exchequer for the Incipient Shire de Bermudez, reports that the new shire has been created on the Island of Bermuda and will be "graciously sponsored by the Barony of Concordia of the Snows."

[EAS] Known World Academy of the Rapier & Known World Costumers Symposium

The Baronies of Bhakail and Iron Bog in the Kingdom of the East invite you to join us on Columbus Day weekend (Oct. 9 - Oct. 11) in Philadelphia for this year's Known World Academy of the Rapier and Known World Costuming Symposium! This event will include two days of classes on both subjects as well as a cocktail party and Masked Ball featuring music performed by the Bhakailie Branslers Saturday evening.
