Endewearde advanced to baronial status

The correspondants of the East Kingdom Gazette report that the Board of Directors of the SCA have approved the advancement of the Shire of Endewearde to baronial status. The announcement took place at the January 26, 2013 BoD meeting.

A team of dedicated volunteers, led by Mistress Catrin o’r Rhyd For, has created an online magazine/blog, the East Kingdom Gazette,  "which provides timely information about activities relevant to the East Kingdom of the Society for Creative Anachronism."

[EAS] 'Yet Unnamed' Masqued Ball

It is said that the Carnival of Venice was originated from a victory of the "Repubblica della Serenissima", Venice's previous name, against the Patriarch of Aquileia, Ulrico in the year 1162.  In the honor of this victory, the people started to dance and make reunions in San Marco Square.  Apparently this festival started on that period and become official in the Renaissance.

If you're a gamer, a LARPer, a fan, or a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism, you're welcome in Boston, according to Ethan Gilsdorf who wrote about the "dweebs, techies, trekkers, weirdos, and gamers" in an article on Boston.com. The article highlights the various activities and organizations in the city including the Barony of Carolingia.

SCA, 4-H join forces for New Jersey Ren Faire

The SCA joined forces with 4-H recently in New Jersey to celebrate the Middle Ages at the 3rd Annual Renaissance Faire at the Warren County Fairgrounds. Lillian Shupe of the Hunterdon County Democrat promoted the faire and shot photos which are available online.
