A team of dedicated volunteers, led by Mistress Catrin o’r Rhyd For, has created an online magazine/blog, the East Kingdom Gazette,  "which provides timely information about activities relevant to the East Kingdom of the Society for Creative Anachronism."

It is said that the Carnival of Venice was originated from a victory of the "Repubblica della Serenissima", Venice's previous name, against the Patriarch of Aquileia, Ulrico in the year 1162.  In the honor of this victory, the people started to dance and make reunions in San Marco Square.  Apparently this festival started on that period and become official in the Renaissance.

The article highlights the various activities and organizations in the city including the Barony of Carolingia.

The SCA joined forces with 4-H recently in New Jersey to celebrate the Middle Ages at the 3rd Annual Renaissance Faire at the Warren County Fairgrounds. Lillian Shupe of the Hunterdon County Democrat promoted the faire and shot photos which are available online.

Great Northeastern War is primarily a "War Practice" event, which means that one major activity at the event will be a form of combat based on the tournaments of the High Middle Ages.  Participants wear replica armor, and use weapons made from rattan.
