In Arn Hold, we hold a masked ball sometime after Christmas and before Shrove Tuesday. Since this habit is the same as that in Venice, we have adopted that as this year's theme: Carnival in Venice or in the Venetian dialect, Carnevale di Venezia!.

The Shire of Cote du Ciel is holding a Five Weapons Tournament at our Shire Birthday celebration on December 5th, 2009. This tournament will be open to everyone who wants to fight, but there is a special prize that will be awarded to the winning fighter with three years or less experience in armored combat.

As the days grow shorter and the nights long and cold, the Sun seems to have died and left the world in darkness. Please join the ancient and glorious Barony of Loch Salann in celebrating the Winter Solstice and the return journey of the Sun. Activities will include dance class, an A&S heraldic display, High Court, a Grand Ball, and a Middle Eastern feast. Please note: Court will begin promptly at 2:30 PM so please plan accordingly.

he annual Southern Regional Collegium will be held on April 10, 2010, once again jointly hosted by the Barony of Loch Salann, the Barony of Gryphon's Lair, the Province of Arrows' Flight and the Shire of Cote du Ciel. Site yet to be determined, but will likely be in Davis County, UT (Gryphon's Lair).

By special arrangement with the Gods, the Shire of Castelleone Nuovo invites you to attend "Twilight in Valhalla."

Warriors will participate in a variety of snow battle scenarios for both heavy and light fighters. After the battles, you are invited to a Norse Style Feast in the halls of Valhalla.

Beautiful summer is now with us, but we fear that winter will come all too swiftly and force us indoors. In preparation, the Northern Grain Alliance is quickly bringing in the sheaves and preparing for a Harvest Festival. But there are rumors of an impending raid upon our store of precious grain and zucchini! (gasp!) Come help us defend the fruits of our labors and rejoice in the stored harvest!

SCA is "a matter of a shared love of history" in Artemisia

The Barony of Arn Hold, in Artemisia, held a fighter practice and demo at a public park in the Boise, Idaho area. Reporter Deanna Darr of the Boise Weekly was on hand to interview participants, and created a very nice, detailed feature article.

SCA: a good fit "if you like armor and tents"

A hot day at the regatta on the Snake River in Burley, Idaho brought out the usual cheering, beer drinking crowds. This year it even brought out guys in armor as members of the local SCA group presented a demo. Damon Hunzeker of the Times-News has the story. (photo)

Utah kids follow “path to knighthood” at Ren Faire fundraiser

It was a fun trip to the past recently for kids in Logan, Utah as members of the local SCA group helped them learn about chivalry. The event was a fundraiser for the Whittier Center, where the group holds its meetings. David Felix of the Herald Journal reports.

Uprising XXIII will be held from June 17 - 21, 2009 in the glorious Barony of One Thousand Eyes. The site for the event is once again the Ancestral Youngforest lands in Firth, ID.

[ART] Dragons Tear XXV

Once again it is time for our Shire Heavy Championship at Dragons Tear. But before any can say it is just another event, please keep in mind that this year’s event will mark Dragon Tear’s Silver Anniversary. In keeping with past tradition, our meal package will include a Friday evening soup kitchen, a wonderful breakfast with a refreshing lunch on Saturday followed by our delectable feast that will be outlined below. On Sunday morning, we will have food set out for those who want to forge for a bite before breaking camp.

The shire of Castelleone Nuovo (Helena, MT) will be hosting a regional fighter's practice at Memorial Park on Sunday, May 24, 2009. In preparation for Uprising, we will be focusing on melees, but there'll be plenty of time for one-on-one work too.
