The An Tir/West War brings the sound of medieval battle to Gold Beach, Oregon the last weekend in June, 2007. Hannah Hoffman of the Curry County Reporter has the story.

Greetings unto the populace of An Tir, especially those whose passion tends towards bardic pursuits and the performing arts. The fifth Kingdom Bardic Championship (KBC) will be held this year on September 22th-23th.

5,000 spectators and over 1,000 SCA members met recently at the annual Medieval Faire hosted by the Barony of Dragon's Laire in Port Gamble, Washington for a weekend of combat, fencing, archery and equestrian exhibitions designed to showcase medieval skills. Annie Tietje of the North Kitsap Herald covered the event.

It is Summer on our lovely island.....and we are graced by the beauty of the land and its creatures.
Listen to the hounds bay and the horns sound in the distance! Watch the hunters ride their horses across the fields. Archers come shoot to your heart's content. This is an event for folks to sit back, feast, shoot archery, and be entertained by the animals. Campers are welcome to stay all three days of the weekend.

"Sport of Kings: Academy of Armored Combat" is a four day learning event presenting to students of all interests and backgrounds an opportunity to learn about all the activities that support and glorify the tournament, and an opportunity for aspirants to martial skill to learn from accomplished practitioners. Pre-registration with payment is only required for those taking classes.

The Barony of Stromgard and the village of Bjorgvin would like to invite you the Second Grand Thing. This will be a period event focusing on Norse and Irish traditions of the Viking era with fighting, contests, games and a Grand Feast! There will be a multi-weapons tournament, a Viking raiders tournament of ships, and a monastery raid where you keep what booty you can escape with.
There will be contests in, axe/spear throwing, archery, wrestling and more. We will repeat the siege-cooking contest "Barbarians at the Gate" the Norsemen are coming! Bring whatever you need to feed 20 warriors and maybe they will go away, leftovers will be used at the feast. Many contests and games for children of all ages so come join us. Site has water, electric, and bathrooms with pay showers.

On the 24th of March AS 41 (2007) in the Barony of Seagirt (Victoria, BC), the populace will gather to celebrate 30 years of the Defender's of Seagirt.
We will celebrate and remember the great times from the first official days of the Shire of Seagirt in the Principality of An Tir, in the Kingdom of the West in 1977 through into the present day Barony of Seagirt in the Principality of Tir Righ, in the Kingdom of An Tir.

This small Ithra will be held at a private residence in the outskirts of Bellingham, WA. *The land is very soggy and parking will be severely limited--please carpool! There may be a parking lot about a mile away that we can use, and shuttle people back & forth, but plan to share rides!*

The sixth biennial Known World Dance Symposium will be held in Seattle, Washington this summer. Early pre-registration is now open, and proposals for workshops and performances are being accepted. An outline of the schedule is also available. More information about the site and lodging will be posted soon. We expect that registration for on-site lodging will be available in March.
The event is organized by the Seattle branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), the Barony of Madrone. The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our "Known World" consists of 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which may feature tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more.

The Albany Democrat-Herald reports from the Linn County Fair & Expo Center, where 750 Boy Scouts attended the 13th annual Calapooia District Cub Scout Lock-in, where several members of the SCA participated in medieval-themed activities.

The Barony of Blatha An Oir is once again having its annual Harvest Feast on the 4th of November. Their Excellencies invite you to join the Barony as we enjoy the comfort foods of Spain. You are invited to join in late period classes and feasting at this rapier academy/Ithra. Combat and non-combat classes including core Ithra classes will be available for all. A snack bar will be run throughout the day by Fire Mountain Keep, and a period feast is being served Saturday evening. There is also a field just waiting for a heavy practise.
