Sarah Kaufman of the Pitt News learned much about recreating the Middle Ages recently when she paid a visit to members of the Pitt Medieval Interest Group and the Society for Creative Anachronism as they gathered for a fighter practice on a November afternoon in Pittsburgh.

The Shire of Misty Highlands invites one and all to the Quiet Dell Community Center for a day of merriment and social gathering. Weather permitting heavy weapons, fencing, and thrown weapons will be taking place outside. We invite one and all to a full day of Tournaments and Competitions – Heavy Weapons, Fencing, Equestrian Arts, Thrown Weapons, Archery, Arts and Sciences, and Bardic Performance - all will be put to the test, with special awards for Tourney/Competition winners, and the naming of the Endless Hills’ Baronial Champions!
The Tournaments and Competitions are open to all, but the Baronial Champions will be selected from Barony members who compete. Inspections for all competitions begin promptly at 8:30 AM! The Shire of Nithgaard will host its fourth annual textile symposium on the weekend of November 10-12 (a week earlier than usual), at the Sieg Conference Center located on Narrows Road in Lamar, PA (no street address). Saturday the 11th will be a day of classes and workshops devoted to fabric, string, and their glorious arts. Melee and tournament combat engagements in a medieval style will be organized by Thorvaaldr Frirsverth. The site opens at 2PM on Friday, and closes at 1PM on Sunday. Location:

Do you want new garb? Does your armor need an update? Perhaps you just want to share and learn? Classes are being formed for armor, leather, needlework, hats, menswear, and ladieswear: clothing and accessories.
Site opens at 9 am; classes begin at 10 am at the Lyndonviklle central School: 25 Housel Ave., Lyndonville, NY 14098. The event fee is $5.00. Lunch is included. There is no feast. Some classes will have supply fees.

Come Join the Barony of Blackstone Mountain in this our 3rd celebration of the Festival of the Wickerman. It will be held on Saturday November 4, 2006 at the Jackson County Fair Grounds, 7204 Route 62 Cottageville WV 25239.
Event site will open at 10:00 am and close 12:00 pm. All those who wish to stay later will pressed into service for clean up.

The Shire of Stormsport is proud to announce that it will be hosting an Equestrian Boot Camp on Saturday, November 18th from 11 AM until we "boot" people (and horses) out.

An exciting scribal and textile arts schola is being held at the newly constructed Branstetter-McCandless Castle at 755 Stonegate Road, Wexford, PA 15090 on November 4 from 10 am to 10 pm. Several of the classrooms will be in the castle towers or the Great Hall. A feast by Margaret MacFee will be served in the Great Hall and galleries. Great Hall seating will be available for on-board only.

Our event autocrated by the talented Liam MacanTsaoir is themed on the battle of Agincourt that was fought in northern France as part of the Hundred Years' War.
