William Short, SCA member and author of the book Viking Weapons and Combat Techniques, will speak at the Fayetteville Free Library in Fayetteville, NY, on, October 29, 2009. The presentation will include a discussion of Viking fighting techniques and weapons.

The Incipient Shire of Ballachlagan invite one and all to an impromptu regional fighter practice on Sunday, November 1st. Practice will start approximately at 12:00 noon and will run until 6:00 p.m (Rain, shine, or snow). Our facility can accommodate both heavy and light fighters. Unfortunately we cannot do archery in city limits. If there is a thrown weapons marshal out there who would like to set up shop for the day, contact AElric Ravenshaw at Archais@msn.com.

The Shire of Nithgaard will host its sixth annual textile symposium on the weekend of November 20-22, at the Sieg Conference Center located on Narrows Road in Lamar, PA (no street address). Saturday the 21st will be a day of classes and workshops devoted to fabric, string, and their glorious arts. Melee and tournament combat engagements in a medieval style will be organized by Thorvaldr Frithsamr. The site opens at 2PM on Friday, and closes at noon on Sunday.
