In December, a new version of the SCA.org website went live. This redesign was motivated by the recent debut of the SCA Newcomers' Portal (welcome.sca.org), so that visitors could easily find their way to it.

Quivers and Quarrels: New photo section

The SCA archery E-newsletter, Quivers and Quarrels, is requesting photographs for a photo section featuring  "period" looking archers. Photos of archers in good looking period style clothing and gear or photos of period style gear (e.g. Bows, quivers. arrows, etc.) made by an archer will be published in each issue.

Board of Directors Nominees Request Notice

Kelly Magill, Communications and Content Deputy for the Board of Directors of the Society for Creative Anachronism, reports that the SCA is seeking nominees for the BoD.

SCA Director-Elect Selected

The SCA Board of Directors would like to announce that David Keen / Master David of Caithness has agreed to accept the position of Director-Elect. Mr. Keen/Master David hails from the Kingdom of Caid. He will be replacing Director Mark Faulcon, whose term ends at the close of business at the October 2013 quarterly meeting.

Additional Peerage Exploratory Committee (APEC)

At the July 2013 Board Meeting, the Additional Peerage Exploratory Committee (APEC) proposed that the Board of Directors create a new Patent-bearing Peerage Order parallel to the Orders of the Chivalry, the Laurel and the Pelican. This Rapier Peerage would be for the related martial arts of rapier and all forms of cut and thrust combat in the SCA.

New York Times Explores Chivalry

A prominent member of the SCA recently got to speak out on the topic of chivalry in the New York Times' Opinion page, in the on-line forum called "Room For Debate." The question of the day that the Times posed was: Could there be a revival of chivalry, or should this noble ideal be allowed to fade into obscurity?

Q&A with Andy Keleman, Director of SCA Web Ad
