If you're new to the SCA or have interested friends, this is the event for you! We will have a selection of classes covering many areas of interest found in the SCA. The classes will introduce new and old members to some of the various activities in the society. "How serious can you be dressed in a kilt?"

Bystanders came face to face with the Middle Ages recently at Machado Elementary School in Lake Elsinore, California. Justin and Ashley Katz of San Jose decided to give the activities a try. "I've never used a bow before, but it's just something I've always wanted to do," Justin said. "It seems fun and the people are extremely nice. I think I'll be back." The Morgan Hill Times has the story. [ATL] Midwinter's Tale

Shire Lagerdamm invites you to Newbie Collegium Imbolc January 10, 2009 Come and celebrate with us
Peace Lutheran Church
As our ewes prepare for birth and soft rains replace the snows, the Shire of Lagerdamm invites you to join them for a celebration of the coming of spring. Imbolc is one of the four principal festivals of the Irish calendar, celebrated among Gaelic peoples and some other Celtic culture. The holiday is a festival of the hearth and home, and a celebration of the lengthening days and the early signs of spring. While it is still winter, changes are already taking place and spring will be here soon. It is an awakening of the earth and all of its creatures. Imbolc is a festival of lights. Candles are lit at dusk on Imbolc eve and placed in every window of the house. This is symbolic of lighting the way in to the future and the coming season of spring and renewal.

The Great All-Father Odin gladly sacrificed an eye for a drink from Mimir's well of wisdom, and was thereby granted knowledge of the Runes. You too, will want to give up an eye (or at least an eyetooth!) for the chance to drink from the Well on October 20th in the bountiful lands of the Mountain Freehold.
Mimir's Well will be held at the Warren Elementary School in Warren, Vermont (technically in the Shire of Panthervale, but they are graciously allowing us to host this event there). The site is dry and no open flames are allowed.

We're having a REVEL just for the fun of it!! August 3-5, 2007
2307 NW 121 Ave Gainesville, FL 32609
NO SITE FEES
FIGHTING
We've opened up our home to the friends we know and to the friends we've yet to meet.
The theme for this revel is "Back to Basics" which means that we are extending a special invitation to people who are new to the SCA to come and learn this organization from the ground up. But we can't do it all alone! So we are also inviting everyone else to come and help show the new comers what you have learned. We'd like to have people come and teach classes in anything you'd like, but keep it geared toward the new comers. And that's just during the day!! Night time is when we get to cut loose and party late into the night!
