Genevra Kornbluth's "Documenting the Luxury Arts" site has photos of artifacts and architecture from Roman to 20th century. Photos of the pre-17th century items include many not easily found elsewhere, including crystal and crystal intaglio pieces, ivory carvings, and game pieces (20-sided dice, anyone?).

With winter approaching and the victory of the Pennsic War safely in hand, we must not sit idle and let newly acquired or honed skills atrophy! One of the main tools that led to our victories in the field was the ability of our commanders and experienced fighters to strategize. We must also recognize the important contribution of the many new combatants who helped us win the rapier war points.

Togaed students packed San Diego streets recently to compete in the San Diego Red Bull Chariot Races. Teams of three "gladiators" dragged chariots "through a tricky course filled with turns, roundabouts and sprints."

Celebrate the last harvest of the season and the coming of the dark times…woooooo-hoo! The hobgoblins and little people will be about, and making merry with the traditions of the season. There will be a heavy weapons prize tourney, with an additional contest for the Most Realistic Death. Additional fun will include a turnip lantern carving contest (Bring a turnip as only a limited few will be available).

As is traditional in the lands of Ildhafn, we will be celebrating the feast of Saint Catherine. Although some years this is an extravagant affair, this year's celebrations will be a little more modest as we relax in the afterglow of July Coronation. Split over the two days of the weekend of November 27th and 28th 2010, this will still be an event not to miss!
