David Caldwell of the National Museum of Scotland does not believe the recognized theory that the famous Chessmen of Lewis belonged to a merchant passing through Scotland. Caldwell thinks the owner was a noble who lived in the area, and that the pieces may not have been "chessmen" at all.

Come and celebrate the season. This year's Yule Court will be held at the Huachuca Oaks Camp. Please bring your games and your dancing shoes. There will be cookies for the young (and young at heart) to decorate and take with them and a few other activities for them as well.

Greetings from the Shire of Montevale! We've uncovered a “piccola parte” (small piece) of Italy in our own backyard. Come join our fair shire at this idyllic site for a day of learning and friendship in the Italian tradition. A variety of Italian themed classes and others will be offered for your educational pleasure. Anyone willing to teach or merchant is welcome, as well as those who wish to learn and shop. There will dancing, entertainment, a gaming area, Bocce (lawn bowling), and a surprise or two. A children's area set aside,(no structured activities are scheduled).

Gwen & Lori, Coronets of Rivenoak invite you to Tournament to determine their champion. There will be both a heavy armored and rapier champion, as well as a boffer tourney to determine the Junior Champion (two age groups). As we in Rivenoak are a little "different," the tourney will be run a little "different" (expect other than double elimination). Also, as we in Rivenoak are also known as "gameplayers", there will be several game tournaments to choose from, or bring your own, and challenge us with your favorite. Once again there is cause for the Baronies of Sacred Stone and Black Diamond to meet on the fields of Elchenburg Castle to seek resolution to conflict. With the help of their friends they will strive to settle their differences throug artistic, scientific, heraldic and martial competitions.
