Renaissance Faire

his is the 16th year that Cote du Ciel is hosting a Renaissance Faire to benefit the community center where we have our weekly practices.  This Faire is one of the ways in which we "pay" for our use of the building. This is NOT an SCA event.

"Dante's inferno", a new take on Hell

The marketers of Electronic Arts' videogame Dante's Inferno had an unusual rollout plan: self-protest the game, based on Dante Alighieri's 14th century work, as an evil, anti-Christian entertainment to drum up publicity for the game. Reviewers found Inferno to be less hellish and more of a dud. Mark Oppenheimer of the New York Times has the story.


Join us at our annual camping event to marvel at the wide open ocean, play games, and experience outdoor A&S adventures. There will also be an as-yet-to-be-determined rapier activity. The A&S competition is for a documented period dish for the Saturday evening potluck.

All young lords and ladies can quest for the fabled horn with the guidance of an adult. One of noble and true heart will complete the quest and guard the Horn for the coming year.

Author Ethan Gilsdorf has produced a new book entitled Fantasy Freaks and Gaming Geeks: An Epic Quest for Reality Among Role Players, Online Gamers, and Other Dwellers of Imaginary Realms, which looks at the role-playing and fantasy culture, including the SCA. (video)
