Sir Starhelm Warlocke Passes in Meridies

Sad tidings have come from Meridies. Baron Sir Starhelm Warlocke (Michael F. Boelter) has passed away on June 25, 2008, of a heart attack while driving his truck near his home in Nashville, TN. His wife was able to get control of the vehicle and pull over.

Known World Aviculturists mourn death of founding member

With the rise of the Atenveldt sun on the morning of June 20th, 2008, the Known World Aviculturist Guild lost one of its founding members, Cuddles of the Royal Menagerie of Atenveldt, suddenly, to an unknown illness.

Tasha Tudor, 1915-2008

Have you ever fantasized about living a period style life in the modern world? Period clothing, period furnishings and decorating, period house (but with the occasional hidden electrical outlet)? American artist and author Tasha Tudor really did it, though her period was the 1830s rather than the middle ages or renaissance. Tasha Tudor died at home on June 18, 2008 at the age of 92, surrounded by family and friends (and presumably corgis).

Farewell to Yang the Nauseating, mka Robert Asprin

Yang the Nauseating, modernly known as Robert Lynn Asprin, was a well-known science fiction and fantasy author. In the SCA, he was one of the early members and was the founder of the Great Dark Horde. Asprin, born in 1946, died peacefully on May 22 at his home.

Lord Calvert reports that Emma, third child of Sir Matthias Sean Cameron and his wife Averill was born May 9, 2008 in the Kingdom of AEthelmearc.

Actor Paul Scofield dies at 86

The theatre and film world is mourning the death of British actor Paul Scofield, best known for his role as Sir Thomas More in the classic A Man for All Seasons. Scofield was 86 years old. Audrey Woods of the Associated Press wrote his obituary.

His Most Eminent Highness Fra' Andrew Bertie, the first Englishman to lead the Knights of Malta, has died, leaving the Order to select its new Grand Master.

Arthur C. Clarke Dies

Famed science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke has died on March 18 at a hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka, at the age of 90. Best-known for his work 2001: A Space Odyssey, his work on communications satellites also helped change the world.

Barony of Stonemarche welcomes newest Eastrealm subject

Gary Gygax, "Father of D&D", dies at age 69

For many in the SCA and other Middle Ages living history organizations, the first introduction to acting the part of someone from a medieval culture was a game of Dungeons and Dragons (D&D). Gary Gygax, one of the co-creators of D&D more than 30 years ago, died today after several years of declining health.

Holiday Tragedy in Midrealm

The family of Tim Coy, known in these Current Middle ages as Lord Cedric Westbrooke, Squire to Sir Alan Culross, suffered a horrible tragedy when his wife Lady Audrey Westbrooke (MKA Lisa Coy) died in a house fire early on the morning of Christmas Eve.

Middle Kingdom says sad farewell to Teresa Calderon

On Thursday, December 20, Teresa Calderon, who was 20 years old, passed away due to a tragic accident. She was a member of The Crows Nest household founded by Garvin the Slow. She was also a lapsed member of the Barony of Cleftlands and the shires of Alderford and Gwyntarian, in the Middle Kingdom.

Ulric Wulfricson, bastion of Pennsic Tech Services, enters Valhalla

The Kingdom of AEthelmearc and the SCA grieve for the loss of THL Ulric Wulfricson, who entered Valhalla on December 16. Ulric was known for his extensive service, including keeping the lights running for the A&S and performance tents at Pennsic War as part of the Technical Services team.

"Holy Blood and the Holy Grail" author dies at 64

Author Richard Leigh, best known as one of the co-authors of The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, has died in London at the age of 64. The nonfiction work proposed that Jesus Christ fathered a child and that the bloodline continues.
