Higgins Armory to close

The Higgins Armory Museum, much beloved of SCAdians, will be closing at the end of the year. The museum houses one of the biggest collections of arms and armor in the United States.

Stafford Castle to be restored

The Stafford Borough Council reports that over UK£75,000 will be spent to restore Stafford Castle, a late 11th century Norman castle in Stafford, England.

Catherine Zeta Jones hopes to help find "lost palace" of Welsh princes

Welsh actress Catherine Zeta Jones and her husband Michael Douglas have donated a "substantial" sum of money to help purchase Abergwyngregyn in Gwynedd, the purported site of the "lost palace" of medieval Welsh princes.

Saxon brooch found at site of Northampton Castle

Scots celebrate rediscovery of David's Tower

A team of experts in Austria plans to construct an authentic medieval castle in the town of Friesach, using only period construction methods. The project is expected to take 30 years to complete.

Online series filmed at Ozark Castle

Catherine Koehler reports that Epilogue, an online series dealing with plague and time travel, premiered on July 1, 2012. The series was partially filmed at the Ozark Medieval Fortress before it closed earlier this year.

Young boys blamed in burning of 13th century castle

The Make-A-wish Foundation (New Hampshire) built a castle - in his backyard - for young David Marasco, who "has a rare disease called desmoid fibromatosis."

Wall collapse leads to archaeological opportunity at Stirling Castle

Cardigan Castle receives UK£4.5m lottery grant

For the past ten years, the Friends of Cardigan Castle in Wales have been hoping to raise money for restoration of the 12th Century building, the first stone castle built by the Welsh princes and the stronghold of Rhys ap Gruffydd. Now they have received an award of UK£4.5m European money.
