As winter continues to tighten its grip on the mountain ranges of Gryphon's Lair, we gather together to end the season of winter festivities, and share good wishes with our friends and companions. Gryphon's Lair opens it gates once again to share its wealth and bounty at a joyous Twelfth Night celebration on January 6.
We will endeavor to explore and experience the varied traditions surrounding this close of the winter season. As all Twelfth Night celebrations must, there will be games, singing, story telling and, of course, for the children. In addition to some fighting fun for the heavy fighter, Terra Sylva will be hosting a Rose Tournament for the Duelists. A Lord and Lady of Misrule will be found amongst the populace to help guide and encourage the fun. Although the Baronial Arts & Sciences Champion will have been newly chosen, Baroness Bianca continues to encourage all artisans to come share their works at an Arts & Sciences display.

Welcome to Rome, 1497. As you admire the wondrous art and high culture of this, the finest of cities, be sure to watch your back. Intrigue is at its height as noble families vie for prominence. Even the mightiest houses are rocked with scandal. Lucrezia Borgia has accused her husband, Giovanni Sforza, of impotence and is filing for a divorce. In retaliation, Giovanni claims that his young bride has indulged in incestuous affairs with both her brother and her father! But beware of whom you share gossip with. Spies are everywhere in the courts, and the assassin's blade is ever ready to avenge a perceived slight. Location:

They came from across the sea...first as mercenaries, then as invaders. Settlers followed and spread throughout lands occupied by others. War ensued. From the mists a leader did come, to unite his people and sit at round tables. Success was theirs....for a while. For the strength of the invaders was greater, and their victories more. And out of ruins of a conquered people new kingdoms were built. The rest is but legend... Location:

In honor of Their Excellencies Colyn and Muiriath, who are celebrating their first Anniversary as our Baron and Baroness, our theme is Scottish: In 1322, Robert the Bruce of Scotland won a decisive victory over King Edward of England at the Battle of Byland. This defeat spurred England to finally accept Scotland ’s independence. (In the words of our Baron: “ Scotland was always free; it just took a while to convince England of that.”) So get out your tartans and kilts and join us in the spirit of Scotland ! Location:

To the atrophying affects of time some may wonder what we mean by Triumphe. The Grand Universities at Oxford have recorded for us the following meanings that we are applying. As the day ends, we ask that you join us for the Triumphe of our Champions and our own and hear the honor and glory of those who have championed us in the past as a new Order comes about. In honor of our current Guardian, who will be the last of the Old Order, Mushir Mahdi, many of the festivities, including the feast will have a Moorish flair to them. Location:
