As part of its October 22, 2008 episode, the Mythbusters took on the challenge of proving the veracity of the medieval Korean hwacha, a weapon able to fire dozens of exploding arrows at a time. The results are chronicled on YouTube.

Not going to Boar Hunt this year? Missing those old time Yule Revels? Let's make 'em come alive again! On December 13th come bring your banner to display and join us in that spirit to make merry at the first Three Rivers Yule Revel, hosted by the Shire of Betony Wood.
We plan to have games, a contest or two and even some good old country dancing organized by Master Own ap Morgan! During the early part of the day before dinner, Master Owen will also be teaching a class on Italia dances; and (weather permitting) a Silver Arrow target archery tournament is planned, with a prize for the victor hand made and donated by Lady Zara bint Talib.

Iosef Braun reports that archery gear owned by William of Teufelberg was stolen from his vehicle in Concord, California October 26, 2008. He asks that the SCA community be on the lookout for the equipment.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Winter Darkwood Archery Tourney. We will be running the Royal Rounds as usual, with submissions going towards IKAC ranking. This year the range will be set up to include shooters in the Children's Division.

Calling all archers of the Kingdom of Caid! By the grace of the Barony of the Angels, the Barony of Lyondemere is pleased to bring you Fall Queen's Champion Archery, in honor of Kolfinna II, on Sunday November 23, 2008. This season's tournament in honor of our new Queen will be challenging. Set in a forest-like setting beside Pasadena, the Roving Range has a variety of distances to shoot. We will challenge and delight all archers with lanes that vary from 15 feet to 70 yards. We will only be shooting 4 arrows in each lane, but bring extra arrows. Location:

Winnebago Scout Reservation
Take your best route to the Avenue of the Saints (aka Hwy 218/27/18). Turn south onto Glass Ave at Rudd (15 miles east of Mason City and 7 miles west of Charles City) and go south, away from Rudd, about 4.5 miles. Turn left onto CR-B45 (because Glass Ave turns into a gravel road here) and go east just under a mile. Turn right onto Hickory Ave and go 4.5 miles south. Turn right (west) onto Glass Road and go 1/10th mile to the scout reservation at the first bend in the road.

The Shire of Sterlynge Vayle welcomes all back to the new Damp Dragon Inn for Bards and Bows on September 6, 2008. This event will be held at Camp Amahami, 434 Page Pond Road, in Sanford NY. This is the same beautiful site where Barony Wars is held.
The site opens at 8:00 AM and closes when everything is clean on Saturday night. Anyone still lingering after 9:00 PM will be pressed into service for site clean up. To encourage you to arrive early to enjoy the full day's activities, there will be a pancake and egg breakfast for a small charge from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Fletching day with Garbecue
I will be hosting a day for the crafting of arrows for both target and combat archery. We will also have a garbecue and a showing of the Battle of Agincourt and the Longbow for those that are able to remain later. Come in garb and bring any arrows to be fletched.

And in consideration of the time, and gas needed for a camping event St Sebastians will be one day only this year. In the name of Baron Jehan, all gentles are invited to attend the Archery and Thrown Weapons Competitions for the Barony of Carolingia on Saturday, July 19th, 2008 (rain date: Sunday, July 20th). During the day, the mighty archers and weapons throwers of Carolingia will compete to choose the best among them for the Baron's Champion.

Camp on soft grass under trees, observe the ducks on the lake, watch banners flutter in the breeze, and hear the sound of arrows coursing through the air as we turn our attentions to the honorable and celebrated discipline of archery -- the sport of monarchs and tool of war and recreation.
This teaching event has classes for the Archer, Bowyer and Fletcher. There are also Ithra Core and other unique classes. Participate in activities such as archery novelty shoots and royal rounds.
