APEC - Proposed Corpora Change

At the July 2013 Board Meeting, the Additional Peerage Exploratory Committee (“APEC”) proposed that the Board of Directors create a new Patent-bearing Peerage Order parallel to the Orders of the Chivalry, the Laurel and the Pelican. This Rapier Peerage would be for the related martial arts of rapier and all forms of cut & thrust in the SCA.

Onomastics

Why do so few Laurels recognize onomastics as a science when we require the opinions of onomasts to register names?  Laurels appear to consider naming as some thing heralds do--while Pelicans consider it a service.  What other "service" has professorships?  I personally know three professors in onomastics.

Master Ioseph of Locksley passes away

Master Ioseph of Locksley, modernly Joe Bethancourt, passed away on August 29, 2014 after prolonged illness. Master Ioseph was the tenth Laurel of the SCA and was well known for his bardic compositions and performances.

SCA Audit Team

The State of California is requiring a full financial audit from the SCA. We have contracted with the CPA firm of Boman Accounting Group, Inc. to conduct the audit for the years 2012 and 2013 and report their findings.
