"We were looking for something to do one weekend, and some of my friends suggested going to a duel. I just got swept up in the culture and the history and then when I found out there was a whole group interested in it who held events and gatherings, I was hooked."
So said Lord Andre of the Shire of Hinterland in Outlands in a recent article about the SCA. The article appeared in the July 14, 2003 edition of the Omaha World-Herald and discussed different aspects of the organization. While not everything in the article is totally correct, most of it gives a pretty fair picture of a fighter's life in the SCA.
