“The archaeology of the Gask is becoming more complex than originally believed and shows that it played an active part in the military history of Roman Scotland for a considerable time,” said Dr David Woolliscroft, Co-Director of the Gask Ridge Project. Built between 70 and 80 C.E., the series of forts and towers ran from Dunblane in Perthshire to the north of Perth.

Archaeologists working on the Gask Ridge Project in Scotland now believe that the fortification, which predates Hadrian's Wall by 50 years, was an important part of the Roman defense in northern Britain. The forts were later incorporated into the Antonine Wall.
