Mary Rose Site Endangered by Dredging Project

The British Navy's faster access to Portsmouth Harbor will endanger the wreck
site of the Mary Rose.
The deepening of a channel to make faster and easier access to the harbor of
Portsmouth may be disasterous for the wreck of Henry VIII's ship, the Mary
Rose. The channel would cut directly across the wreck which still contains many
artifacts. Researchers plan to spend much of the summer diving to the wreck to
recover as many artifacts as possible before the dredging begins.
