"Rays of sun glinted off dented helms as two knights squared off on a grassy knoll. Lord Ciaran O'Heildhe, a 15th century Irish knight, armed with sword and shield, faced Lord Hamer Ulfsson a 10th century Viking with a sword clenched in one hand and a bardiche, or great ax, clenched in the other." Nicholas Bergin of the Burlington, Iowa Hawk Eye
was there to cover the action.
The fighter practice took place in Dankwardt Park in Burlington where members of the Shire of Flinthyll (Calontir) congregated to bang on each other and share their hobby with passers-by, including a gang of kids on bicycles who were fascinated with the fighting.
