The Great All-Father Odin gladly sacrificed an eye for a drink from Mimir's well of wisdom, and was thereby granted knowledge of the Runes. You too, will want to give up an eye (or at least an eyetooth!) for the chance to drink from the Well on October 20th in the bountiful lands of the Mountain Freehold.
Mimir's Well will be held at the Warren Elementary School in Warren, Vermont (technically in the Shire of Panthervale, but they are graciously allowing us to host this event there). The site is dry and no open flames are allowed.
The warriors of our great Northern lands will hone both their minds and blades in classes on specific martial forms (in armor), and on both command and tactics (in class). Weather permitting, pick-up fighting can occur outside. Please note that no actual combat or tourneys are scheduled, but we are confident that all participants will work up a good sweat regardless!
Great wisdom is also to be found for students of the Arts and Sciences. Our Collegium will include newcomers and textiles tracks, and has space for multiple other tracks, a dedicated messy room, and performance classes. We will also be holding an A&S Exhibition and Artist's Meet-and-Greet, and a gathering of those participating in the A&S 50 Challenge (ArtsAndSciences50.org).
As a special treat, we invite the artisans of the East to contribute to a set of runes (more details are available on our website or from Lady Albreda – see below) The set of runes will be awarded as a door-prize during an end-of-day reception that will feature delicacies provided by the Freehold Cooks. The Cooks will also be preparing a hearty lunch-board for us (all food shall be free of nuts).
The minds of our youth will not be neglected, as many A&S classes will be open to well-behaved youth ages 8-17, and children 6+ are welcome at some classes with a parent. We also hope to offer youth-specific A&S classes (volunteer teachers welcome!), and to screen a medieval-themed movie for children of all ages. Nap and play space will be set aside for our youngest guests, but parents will be expected to provide supervision for their own children.
