Greetings, all! I am honored to be coordinating the AEthelmearc Royal reception table at Pennsic this summer. The reception table, under a shade tent just inside the AEthelmearc encampment gates, is where visitors can leave messages for Their Majesties, Their Highnesses, and kingdom officers, check the Royal and encampment schedules, and get a drink of water and a kind word from some of AEthelmearc's finest representatives - you!
This year, the table will be open from Sunday, August 10th (remember - Opening Ceremonies is on Sunday this year) through Friday, August 15th, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Shifts to work at the table are in two-hour blocks (beginning at 8:30/10:30/12:30/2:30), with at least two people there most times. Duties include taking messages, providing assistance or direction to folks who stop by Royal, and keeping the water cooler and the gate guards filled with water.
If you can give us a shift or two this August, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org with your preferred times/days as well as any meetings, battles, or other activities you would rather not conflict with. If you discover a conflict closer to the war, just contact me and we'll work something out. I am hoping to get the schedule (at least something showing what times are still open) onto my web page. I'll let everyone know when I get it onto the page.
For anyone who is new to the kingdom, this is a great way to get to know people in a relaxed setting - you are more than welcome, and in fact, I encourage you to come and join us. That being said, we also would particularly like to call on all Barons and Baronesses of the Court to share some time with us at the table. I am working on some special treats for volunteers? (if you feed them, they will come??).
So, if you would like an opportunity to serve our kingdom while sitting in the shade, talking to new and old friends, and showing the Known World just how friendly and warm AEthelmearcians can be, please consider spending some time at the Royal Encampment reception desk.
Looking forward to another great war,
Baroness Mairi ni Raghaillaigh
