Barony of Atenveldt celebrates 38th anniversary
"Introduced to Phoenix in 1969 by Rick Cook and Mike Reynolds, Atenveldt became the first barony recognized by the SCA," writes Sadie Joe Smokey in a recent article for the Arizona Republic. Cook, who was also Atenveldt's first king, was on hand to share in the celebration.
From the article: "It's a big nostalgia fest for us. It's like a high school reunion," said Sandi McDaniel of Phoenix. "A couple months after it started I went to an event with some friends. We all went ga-ga. All of us met our husbands that day, but we didn't know it then." |
