Singing, fighting, sewing, dancing, relaxing with friends - sounds like all the elements of a great event, right? No wonder - it's the annual Collegium of the Desert in the Barony of Starkhafn. Take your pick of over 50 classes scheduled on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, 2007.
On Saturday, sewing enthusiasts can take advantage of classes like "Basics of Handsewing for Garb", "Opus Anglicanum Embroidery", "Sixteenth Century Headwear", and "Beginning Card Weaving". Dancers will have the first opportunity to see what Master Niccolo Gianfigliazzi Genoves learned at the Known World Dance Symposium in An Tir. Cooks can join Messer Giuseppe Francesco da Borgia for a freewheeling afternoon kitchenfest. Try your hand at painting a banner, making precious metal clay jewelry, or constructing your own pair of leather shoes. There are classes designed specifically for adults, and plenty of youth-friendly classes as well! Check out the complete descriptions and class schedules on line at http://www.starkhafn.org/events/Collegium2007/collegium.php.
Saturday's classes will be held at Del Sol High School, 3110 East Patrick Lane, Las Vegas NV 89014. Please note: Absolutely no weapons are allowed on campus. Sunday's classes will be held at the Nevada History Museum, 700 Twin Lakes Drive, Las Vegas NV 89107, in conjunction with Starkhafn's regular fighter practice. All martial arts classes that require the use of weapons will be scheduled for Sunday morning.
On Saturday, enjoy a delicious donation lunch buffet, hosted by the Youth Fighters of the Barony. StarkBucks will also be on hand through the morning, serving a variety of hot beverages. Do you have a piece of static art you'd like to show off? Exhibit your work (or work-in-progress) in our Artisan's Display. Please bring some documentation, so that viewers may fully appreciate your work. Pick up some light reading at our Summer Book Sale. And what Starkhafn event would be complete without a post-event revel? Spend the day learning, then spend the evening enjoying good food and companionship. Revel details will be provided at the event.
