Combative Arts Training Day

Chateau de Camville, residing in the lovely lands of the Shire of Mountain's Gate, is hosting an "armored combat training day" on Saturday June 9, 2007.The day will consist of structured combative arts training with slow-work, drills and sparring There will be classes in the first part of the day and armored drills/focused sparring in the latter part of the day. Please try to attend the classes as they will be reviewed in the sparing section of the day. PLEASE BE ON TIME! No need to RSVP just show up by 11:00AM prepared to train hard.We hope to provide an opportunity for folks to "tune up" before the major tourneys and provide a chance for new fighters to jump in.

Combatants will need helm, weapons and shield (if used) along with normal pads for the first part of the day and should have all their armor for the second part (loaner gear is VERY limited). You'll need to bring your own lunch/snack and beverages. We will fire up the grille afterwards if you wish to hang around…so bring something for the grill! A potluck impromptu feast/revel may also occur. Contributions to said endeavor are MOST welcome!

Here is the schedule for the day's activities:
10:30 AM Site Opens
11:00AM Warm Up & Stretch
11:15AM Class One: Stances, Footwork and Movement on the X (Review)
11:30AM Class Two: Aspects of Defense 201 (Intermediate Class-Single Concept)
12:00AM Class Three: Aspects of Attack 201 (Intermediate Class- Single Concept)
12:30PM Armor up, Armored Drills, Critiques and Focused Sparring
2:30-3:00PM Event ends. Dinner plans begins.

NON-COMBATANTS: We have room for and will be working on various projects. We'll be working on some garb projects for June Crown. Bring what ever you are working on or pitch in with the various group projects!

BYOB: Please bring your own beverages and a snack/lunch! This is a must. We will provide water and paper cups.

DIRECTIONS: The site is access fastest (although not as scenic) from Hwy. 80 near Auburn. You'll head towards Auburn on Hwy. 80 and exit at the Elm Street/ Hwy 49 exit. Follow the signs to Hwy. 49. You will see signage directing you to Cool and Georgetown. You cruise down 49 and will see some amazing vista…and even the tallest bridge in the USA (you won't be on it but you can see it). Once you get into Cool (it is not a big place) you will make a LEFT on Hwy. 193. You will pass the Holiday Food Outlet on your right (brand new plaza). Soon after that is Cherry Acres Rd. Make a RIGHT on Cherry Acres. Follow this to India Rock Rd. Make a LEFT on Indian Rock Rd. When it FORKS stay to the LEFT. The house (which is currently light blue with dark blue trims) is on the left. We are hoping to have some signage up before the event.. FROM HWY. 50: You have TWO options from Hwy. 50. SCENIC ROUTE: Head East on Hwy. 50. Exit at the Ponderosa/Shingle Rd. exit and head north. Make a right on Shingle Rd. Make a right on Green Valley Rd. Make a left on Lotus Rd. Make a left on Hwy. 49/Coloma. Follow 49 up tot 193 and follow those directions.

ALT. 2 ROUTE: Take Hwy. 50 East. Exit Hwy. 49 North. This takes you through parts of Placerville. Exit Hwy. 193 North (towards Georgetown). You will go through downtown Georgetown. Stay on Hwy. 193. You'll head through downtown Georgetown this way. Follow 193 towards Cool. Make a LEFT on Cherry Acres and follow the directions. This is the long way around but the views are great.

CRASH SPACE: Crash space is available for those who are traveling into the area. Please let us know you will need crash space by dropping us a note at dcamville@msn.com no later than Tuesday June 5, 2007!
