Experts Argue Over Restoration of "David"

History News Network: Plans to restore Michaelangelo's statue of David have come to a halt as experts
argue over techniques.
The famous statue of David which draws thousands of visitors to Florence,
Italy, is grimy and badly damaged, but plans to clean and restore the
Renaissance masterpiece are on hold as experts argue over restoration
techniques. Agnese Parronchi, hired to restore the piece, prefers a dry
brushing technique while Academy director Franca Falletti favors damp
poultices. Hopefully the argument will be resolved and David will be clean for
his 500th birthday in 2004.
