The story of a flea

In a review for The Guardian, Ian Pindar discusses a new book about bubonic plague: Justinian's Flea by William Rosen, an "impressive study of the bubonic plague and its impact on history."

The book follows the history of the plague in Europe from AD540 in the city of Pelusium on the Nile delta to medieval Europe with a large emphasis on the Byzantine court of Justinian and Theodora.
