Relics of Bulgarian Tzar re-buried

After a special ceremony on April 19, 2007 to anoint the remains, relics from Bulgaria's legendary 12th century Tzar Kaloyan were re-buried in Veliko Tarnovo 800 years following his death.

Kaloyan took the throne in 1197 following the death of his brothers and was able to return lands in Thracia, Macedonia, Transylvania and Moravia to Bulgaria after a series of wars with the Byzantine Empire, Hungary and Serbia. He was killed in 1207.
