A laser technique used in medicine and aircraft design may help reconstruct ancient artifacts. Scanning with lasers is now being investigated as a way to study and exhibit ancient artifacts. After scanning, 3D images are created which bring to light inscriptions that can barely be seen with the naked eye. In addition, the technique will not damage delicate objects such as clay tablets. If successful, the laser technique may replace the older resin molds which are much harder on artifacts.
