English pewter to be auctioned at Christies

Zenobia reports that Christie's Auction House will be offering a collection of 156 pieces of pewter dating from the 16th century or before for sale on May 1, 2007. Photos from the catalog are available online.

The pieces are from the collection of David Little and include a 16th century pewter syringe, "spoons, chalices, porringers, baluster measures (kind of pitchers with lids, presumably with known volume), flagons, cups, beakers, Italian tazza (what is the plural of that), plates, candlesticks, and so forth." The catalogs are also available for sale for US$20.
