Ten years ago, father and son Neal and Brendan Abernathy were murdered in their home in Contra Costa, California, but police are no closer to discovering their killer.

"This is still an active case for us. It's not finished," Detective Sgt. John Eavessaid. "We believe that after 10 years, there still are people out there who may have information that can help us, people who were reluctant to come forward at the time.'

Abernathy was a member of the SCA and a regular at West Kingdom fighter practices.

"I met him at fighter practices, which were held every week," said Frederick Hollander, a UC Berkeley crystallographer and charter member of the Society for Creative Anachronism.
