Canterbury Tales Event

Welcome good gentles and come rest yourself from your long winter's Journey at the "Chanticleer" Tavern. Where you can regale your fellow pilgrims and travelers with tales from far off lands as you enjoy our hearty tavern fare prepared by our own Margaret Makafee. If you wish just to pass a quiet day, there will be a selection of Tavern games you can play, or you might just sit and enjoy listening to the tales presented in our Bardic Competition. Also, you can enter the Helm Crest Display, or display you favorite object from the Canterbury Tales. For those gentles who are our fighters, a 'Crest Fallen' tournament is planned, while for our fencers a Chaucerian tourney will test your skills. Finally, a Quest is planned for all those who wish to participate! In addition, A Progress most Royal will be happening too!! Their Majesties have graciously consented to visit the Tavern so make it a day to stop in, and take your ease at the "Chanticleer"!

This day will happen on March 31st, 2007 in the Barony Marche of the Debatable Lands from 10am to 9pm. The locale is the Dorseyville Firehall in Indiana Township ( address: 100 Charles St. Pittsburgh, Pa. 15238). Since this is a TAVERN, this is a Wet Site. No alcohol will be served; however, your fermented libations should be in period containers. In addition, there will not be the standard lunch & feast meal schedule. Instead, the Chanticleer Tavern will be open throughout the day serving hearty tavern fare. One feast token buys 'lunch' and two feast tokens buy 'dinner'. Either meal will be available through out the day until early evening, so there will be no set lunch or dinner time. If you wish to purchase more food tokens, just see our Innkeeper, Hilderun, at the check in desk. I look forward to greet and see you all there!!
