The exhibit presents the Frick's "Flagellation of Christ," recently identified as a work by Cimabue, and the UK National Gallery's "Virgin and Child Enthroned with Two Angels," long known to have been painted by Cimabue.
A selection of panels, manuscripts, and verre églomisé (painted and gilded glass) also will be on view, illustrating the various forms of small-scale devotional art with which Cimabue and his contemporaries experimented.
