Raid on the Mountain

description:
Western Keep is holding Raid on the Mountain in Brookings as a local one day event, NOT our regular weekend camping at Hole in the Mountain campground at Lake Benton, MN. This event is to prepare and authorize fighters for Cecil's Siege (Fall Coronation in Vermillion, SD). We will meet on the south end of Hillcrest Park, in the elementary school parking lot next to the shelters. We will have heavy weapons and light weapons, but no throwing or archery since we're in city limits. The park has a playground area for children, modern plumbing, and is connected to the city aquatics park (one day pool pass is $3.00 per person, which gives you access to showers and snack booth).

No feast, but we will have a pot luck supper at Hillcrest Shelter B (next to the tennis courts). At least one grill will be available, but bring your own meat. Bring your own feast gear and beverage. If you forget to bring food, feast gear, or beverages we will accept your $10 donation to use our supplies.

This event is being hosted by Western Keep on August 26, 2006 autocrat is Lady Nicholaa (Cindy Bergman) mommymouse@brookings.net

We will have bardic activities after the fighters stop for the night, with small fuzzy prizes. First prize is a 4 foot stuffed green dragon with glow in the dark spots :)

Site fee is $2.00 per person (covers the gatorade and ice). Non-members pay $5 per person.

The picnic shelter and facilities are handicapped accessible but park itself is NOT handicap friendly; site is completely dry.

Planned Activities:
Armored and Rapier Combat(authorizations and practices), Bardic Activities

Directions from Hwy 14: If coming into Brookings from the west, stay on 14 until Medary avenue. Turn right onto Medary, then left onto 3rd street. When you reach the school follow the signs.

If you know your way around Brookings: We're using the parking lot on the north side of the school as our base of operations. We have picnic shelter B for the day, but another group is using shelter A. The shelter has 8 electrical outlets, running water, two permanent grills, easy access to the tennis courts, pool, horseshoe pits, and wooded areas as well as facilities. There are some parking spots on 17th next to the horseshoe pits, but no street parking. Location:
