Al-Barran Champions

September 15th, 16th and 17th 2006. A.S. XLI
Location: Land's End, Stanley New Mexico.
Site opens at 12:00 Noon on Friday, Sept. 15th.
Site closes 4:00pm on Sunday, Sept. 17th.
Site is wet, however all are expected to abide by all applicable laws.
This is a free event.

This is the first Tournament of Champions for Their Excellencies Gregor and Monika! All Fighters, Archers, Bards and Artisans and all good gentles of the knowne worlde are hereby invited to come to al-Barran for a weekend of Chivalry, contest and revelry.

The Schedule for this event is not yet finalized at this time. Look for frequent updates posted to the Outlands, al-Barran and Blaiddwyn e-lists.

Tentative Schedule.
Friday :
SITE OPENS at 12:00 PM
Mass revelry at central area - all at Baron and Baroness' discretion -- drumming and dancing are encouraged

Saturday:
Court at Their Excellencies' discretion.
9:30am: Baron's Champion and Baroness's Champion tourneys* to begin
11:30am: Premiere Blade and Protector of the Baroness's Heart tourneys* to begin
Baronial Archer tourney*. Time TBA.
Dusk: Baronial Bardic* begins
NO DRUMMING ALLOWED TILL BARONESS LIFTS MORATORIUM

Sunday:
Court at Their Excellencies' discretion.
9:00am: Master Swordsman Tourney*
Rapier pickups
IKAC Shoot at Archery Range, Time TBA.
4:00pm: SITE CLOSES - GO HOME

Yes, there WILL be A&S events at this event. Lady Bianca wishes to have the traditional "Scorpion in any medium" contest. She also wishes to have a brewing/vinting contest. Details will be posted to the lists as soon as they become available. There will also be children's activities, details will be posted as soon as they become available.

Lord Scarbellius has graciously volunteered to run a public coffee point in the mornings at Town Hall. There will be coffee, tea, hot chocolate and various additives(non-alcoholic!). This will be free, but a donation jar will be set up to accept donations for the Barony. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated.

The site is lightly wooded and all should bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Portable shade is encouraged. The trees are precious and so should not be damaged or dismembered. Fire restrictions are subject to change, updates will be posted on the Outlands, al-Barran and Blaiddwyn e-lists. Once again! Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, snacks and be prepared for hot days and cold nights.

*Anyone wishing to participate in any of the tournaments or the Bardic competition must have a current subscription to the Baronial Shaft. A representative from the Chronicler's Office will be on hand at the event, should you wish to purchase or renew a subscription. You may also contact the Chronicler at chronicler@al-barran.org for information on how to subscribe by mail.

Directions
Take I-40 east from Albuquerque to Exit 196. Go North of NM 21 for 12 miles. Turn East (right) on White Lakes Road. Go 4.5 miles to Rough Road. Turn North (left) and go 2 miles. Turn East (right) at SCA sign and go 1 mile to Land's End.
