Possible Benedictine Guesthouse Found Under Pub

Archaeologists believe they have unearthed a medieval Benedictine hostelry beneath a pub near Byland Abbey near Coxwold.
Finds so far include roof tiles, pottery and stonework. Visitors to the guesthouse include Edward II; however, little is known of the history of the site after 1538. |
