Irish Road Bowling Alive & Well in West Virginia

The rattle of metal on asphalt could be heard recently as the North American Region Championships of Irish Road Bowling came to Turkey Run Road in Buckhannon West Virginia. The ancient sport consists of tossing a metal ball along winding, country roads.

Cindi Lash of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette covered the story which describes the sport and its local participants. The sport originated 400 years ago in Ireland but has mostly died out in the United States.
