Lyondmere Anniversary & Baronial Investiture

description:
The Barony of Lyondemere invites all good gentles to join us on July 22nd, 2006 (AS XL) as we celebrate our Baronial Anniversary and the investiture of our new Baron and Baroness. Come and enjoy the fighting, feasting, and reveling with us! The feast will be limited to 120 people, so please send your reservations to feast@lyondemere.org BEFORE June 25th, 2006.

Heavy Weapons: This year our double-elimination championship tourney will be fought with destructive double kills, so remember to protect yourself even when you know you have the opening for a killing blow!

Fighters, is one tourney at an event just not enough? Then join us for Dante and Gareth's Inferno, a sword and buckler prize tournament to be run concurrently with the barony's Championship list and sponsored by the two aforementioned Knights of Lyondemere. The rules are simple: it is a standard double elimination list using bucklers of 14" or smaller and no thrusting tips. We will have a small number of bucklers as loaners, but ask fighters to bring their own if they have them and be sure to bring proper hand protection to go with the bucklers (standard hand protection for a center-mount round). Why waste your time between rounds just resting? Join us and fight, fight, fight!

Rapier: At his Excellency Thomas' request, a double-kill will be a victory for the field. Because a champion should be skilled at all options of combat, the Rapier list will proceed as follows:

  • Round 1 Light Rapier (epee or foil), fighter's choice of secondary
  • Round 2 Singe Heavy Rapier
  • Round 3 Defensive secondary
  • Round 4 Offensive secondary

All further rounds are Fighter's Choice

If a fighter is not authorized with Heavy, or Light rapier blades, they can yield the round, or fight with single dagger. Eliminations will be determined by the number of participants, available eric space, and marshals. Likely a double elimination, but a round-robin is possible.

On Sunday, please join Their Excellencies for a light brunch, fighting practice (a chance to play with our out-of-Kingdom visitors!), arts and crafts and conversation on the sidelines. There will be a bardic circle and dance practice (should there be sufficient interest), a chance to work on hand projects and converse with new friends and old in a more relaxed venue than your average tournament. Practice and brunch will begin at 10 am (also at Calle Mayor): there is no site fee for this portion of the event.
