Children's Activities at Lilies War

Lady Aldyet Le Chaundeleur has annouced that this year's Lilies War will feature a full slate of activities for youth and children.

Lady Aldyet writes:

We have a great set of children's activities planned this year for lilies. Most of the classes/activities can be found in the lilies book, please understand that there are always additions, cancellations, ext. Please check the small board at the Children's tent, for that days schedule.

Also remember that there are 3 1/2 tracts this year. Baby tract (mommy meet and greet m-f 9am.) the Page School or Kestrel tract (those partaking in page school), the Page program (those who have graduated from the Kestrel college or another page program) and the Teen Tract (for those 13-18)

For those taking part in Page School

Page School

  • Who is eligible: Ages 7-10 who can read simple sentences without supervision
  • Rules: This years Page School will take place at the Children/Youth tent. Parents must sign in their children. Children not signed in will not be permitted to participate. Parents must pick up their children at the end of activities. Time: Monday-Friday (except Weds.) 10-12 am
  • Place: Children's Tent

Basket Making
Come learn how to weave simple baskets.
Time: 1-2 on Tuesday or 11-12 on Saturday
Place: Children's Tent
The first class will be a basket 2"diameter aprox. 2"high it is the form for a pincushion. Kits will be available with and without the base completed. The class is a beginner class for ages 5 up. The cost will be $1.25 for materials. The second basket will be a pouch. This is a class for age 7 and up. The basket is still a beginner basket but it is more complex. The pouch can be hung dimensions are 5"x6 1/2". The cost for materials is $1.70.

Juggling Class
Come learn how to juggle.
Time: 2-3 on Tuesday
Place: Children's Tent

Storytelling
Time: 4 pm daily
Place: Children's tent

Boffer Tournament
Children's Boffer Tournament for ages 7 through 16 (unauthorized only) This tournament is an opportunity for kids to gather to learn how to safely play with boffers.  All ages are welcome but we must restrict participation in the tournament to ages 7 to 16.  Authorized 16 year olds are not allowed to fight, however, we would love to have them there to help marshal the tournament.  We are also asking that the older kids volunteer to help in the Marshalling of the tournament.

Queen's Tea
The Queen's tea for the children, filled with good food, treats, storytelling, and a water fight.
Time: 1-3 on Wednesday

Ice Cream Social
A great time for children and parents alike to enjoy cold ice cream on a hot day.
Time: 2:30-4 on Thursday
Place: Children's Tent

Favor Class
Come make a favor for a fighter to wear into battle during the youth tournament.
Time: 12-1 on Friday
Place: Children's Tent

Youth Tournament
Fighters fight for the honor of the children.
Time: 1-3 on Friday
Place: Battlefield

Closing Court
Closing Court will include a presentation to those who completed Page School.
Time: Saturday

For those taking part in the Page Program

The Page Program is the next step after Page School. Kestrels (Page school graduates) will get hands on experience learning in the arts, sciences, and services of Calontir. There is no age limit, teens and parents are encouraged to participate. Pages will collect stamps from various arts, science, and service related activities held through the Page Program.

Book Making
Come make a small journal which you can keep tract of all your accomplishments in.
Time: Monday 11-12
Place: Teen Tent

Chatelaine Activities
Learn how to help new people into the SCA. A great class for youth who are just starting, and those who have been in their whole life.
Time: Monday 2-3
Place: Children's Tent

The Life of a Chirurgeon
Learn the importance of health and safety.
Time: Monday 3-4
Place: Children's Tent

Page Privy Patrol
Privy Patrol! The most important job at war. Pages will contribute to the functioning of Lilies War by partaking in restocking the privies with toilet paper.
Time: Monday-Friday 4-5
Place:  Meet at the Children's Tent
Note: Pages who partake in the Privy Patrol will receive double stamps. Special prizes will be awarded to those who due all 5 days of Privy Patrol

Basket Making
Come learn the art of weaving simple baskets.

Juggling Class
Come learn art of juggling.
Time: 2-3 on Tuesday

Heraldry
Learn the art of Heraldry through pre-printing
Time: Tuesday 11-12. Come all three times, each class will be different.

Water Bearing
Come learn and contribute to the great service of water bearing. Pages will be instructed in the importance and techniques of water bearing.
Time: Tuesday 3-4, Thursday 10-11, Saturday 3-4
Place: Battlefield
Note: Those under 16 needs to have an adult present if they wish to carry water. Other jobs will be delegated to those who don't have an adult present.

Boffer Tournament
