Shire of Sterlynge Vayle to Host Axes and Ales

Sterlynge Vayle, located near Sanford, NY (USA), invites the populace of the Known World to join them for the fifth incarnation of this event, which features thrown weapons competition and brewing. Once again the Shire of Sterlynge Vayle invites you to join them for more axes, more knives, more brews - did we mention more axes - at their 5th Axes and Ales held April 25-27th! This year we have a new site - Camp Amahami in Sanford NY. (no street address). The site opens at 6pm on Friday night and closes at 12 noon on the 27th. Anyone still there after noon will be drafted to assist in clean up duties.

As always there will be a thrown weapons competition, and a Heavy Weapons Tourney run by Earl Sir Yngvar the Dismal. Of course, no Axes and Ales would be complete without the brewing slam, and this year is certainly no different - so come and bring your potables for sampling and enjoyment! (State laws for the consumption of alcoholic beverages will be enforced.) Returning this year is a brewing competition! (Documentation is recommended.)

There will be a silent auction to benefit the Kingdom Chirurgeons. Any donations please contact Eoghan Rurikson at . Current items can be seen at

A delightful feast for 120 gentles is being prepared by Sir Murdoch Bayne and Lady Riogonach. Any questions on things culinary or dietary restrictions may be directed to them at . Please note that the site is a Girl Scout camp and is damp, with open flames being allowed.

Fees for event are: $13 onboard (lunch and feast), $6 offboard (lunch only), children 5-12 are half price, and babes in arms are free. Please be aware, the NMS will be collected at the gate, so plan accordingly with membership cards or additional funds. The site is heavily wooded, and tent space is very limited. However, our new site does have heated cabins in two styles. The first is a 'barracks style' with bunk beds and this is very limited. There is a $3 per person, per night fee for bunk space. The second is 'cushy crash space' with heat and mattress, no fee is being charged for the 'cushy crash space'. Please include payment and preference with your reservation. Make checks payable to: SCA, Inc. - Shire of Sterlynge Vayle.
