Medieval Seals Project Seeks Letters of Support

Historians at the University of Durham in England are seeking letters of support for a project to create a website for research of medieval seals. The cost of a stamp to the United Kingdom is all that historians at the University of Durham are asking to help create an online source for medieval seals. Thousands of seals dating from the Middle Ages that once belonged to kings, bishops, monasteries or merchants and craftsmen are still in existance and are an untapped source for research, especially for study of crafts, the law or the design arts. The Medieval Seal On-line Project would bring these seals to the Internet where individuals from all over the world may have access.

The project website includes a form which may be downloaded and mailed to the University in support of the project. Anyone who would like to have access to the medieval seals will want to send this letter of support.
